The microchip is usually place in the shoulder blade area of your doggie. I always have my pets placed when they are spayed and asleep.
It can be done without them being asleep because its done like a shot...but the needle is larger because the chip has to move through it. So some pain is involved.
I've always done it at first opportunity with them being asleep...and that is at spaying time for me. The vets charge $28 for the chip-
Either way you do it..its very important...
