Question My Puppy's Cough

Greetings. I'm new to this forum and have just brought home the most adorable, loving Yorkie Pup, Miss Yip. She is 14 weeks old. She is energetic (very), eats a lot, drinks a lot and otherwise "normal." Since being brought home, however, which was 5 days ago, she has a cough, which has gotten worse. As soon as we had her in our possession, she was taken to the vet. The vet said she had a "cold." He gave her Guiatuss Cough Syrup (.30 cc's twice daily as needed) and he gave her Calatrax (antibiotic .30 cc's twice daily until gone) as a "preventative." It appears to me that she has kennel cough, after reading about the symptoms, etc.

The cough is a dry cough, sometimes hacking. It is worse at night.

My question is this: We sleep with the air conditioner (73 degrees) on in our bedroom. However, in the rest of the house, the air is not an option, as we live in the Caribbean and the house is not built for that. Could this be an irritant?

I have felt her tonsils and they seem fine. I just want my new baby to be okay as I'm in love and very concerned.
