That sounds like a good explanation. I seriously doubt it was ringworm but can't be positive without seeing it. We unfortunately have lots of experience with ringworm because of the kitties we got from the shelter that had it and it really doesn't sound like that. Ringworm would have lasted longer and doesn't normally go away on it's own. Good luck at the vet!
