Ticks don't jump, I've seen a tick on a dog that was about the size of a dime, it had been sucking for awhile, usually there small like maybe a little smaller than the top of a pencil eraser....ticks are everywhere, they like tall grass, stacked firewood, shade...since you got it off I wouldn't dip him in unnecessary chemicals...I'm going to try this 4 in 1 shampoo it's supposed to repel them off
