I work for the airlines. I flew with my guy a couple months ago. Our requirement is if the dog is in the cabin, the carrier must fit underneath the seat in front of you, the carrier also must be soft sided. The bag can be 11" high by 18" long. I purchased the Sherpa bag. Also, most airlines require that you have a vet certificated within 10 days of the flight (and ususally it is valid for 30 days). That may vary by airline. I would talk to your vet also about something that may relax your pup, unless he is naturally relaxed. I used benedryl and Bentley slept the entire flight (which was only over 1hr). Most airlines by regulation do not allow you to remove the dog from its carrier, even if the dog is whining. However, if you have an emptier flight and a good flight crew, they MIGHT let you. FAA regulations however are the pet must remain in the carrier. Check with each airline as their rules may be slightly different. Good luck, its actually fun..
