We just flew to San Antonio on April 4. It was AA and the bag I used was a Sherpa with no wheels. It was a little too tall according to what I read before we went, but it is soft on top & you can squeeze it under. We were on a little plane (only 3 seats across) & I took him out on my lap both ways-They were fine with it!!! He weighs right at 5 1/2 lbs & they just checked it when we were leaving San Antonio, (they did not measure it, only asked to see it) -that was also the only place they asked for the state health certificate. It did cost 80. each way & he counted as my carry on.
