Yes, you are being paranoid.....question, is your yorkie boy or girl? What texture is the coat.....very silk, a little coarser? I use plastic wraps, especially on boys, for obvious reasons. Also, take them down once a day and rewrap.....this will prevent what we call ring around, under the wraps where they are banded. I also make sure that there are no sharp edges, so folding is a must.....even with plastic wraps.

What I do is use very small bands and band the facial furnishings, taking care not to obstruct the natural mobility of their mouth. Growing facial furnishing on a yorkie is very tricky...lots of extra care....washing after eating, making sure their are no eye goobers (this rots the coat).....I hope I've answered your question...
