Such wonderful stories of love. I also have a sweet little guy, Charlie, who came to live with me two weeks ago. He is ten years old and has seen several homes, several years of inadequate medical care. He also had demodex (mange) for years, and finally with proper medication it is clearing up. Since he is ten, I had a geriatric blood panel done and discovered his thyroid level which should be between 2-4 was 0. He is taking Soloxine 2xday, almost done with Ivermectin for demodex and probotics.
His fur is beginning to fill back in at an amazing rate. Soon he will only be taking Soloxine daily. Since mange was mentioned earlier, it is important to not give steriods (cortesoids) to dogs diagnosed with demodex (mange) because it actives the mites.
I would highly recommend rescuing a pup and especially a senior. Congratulations to all of us because these are the most loving pets. |
