That's not abnormal. Archie's like that too. He's just really really curious and tries to run across the street and runs around like a maniac. Is your puppy neutered/spayed? At 7 months, Archie started making "girlfriends," so he was extra-hyper (he's not neutered yet). Plus, he's a puppy...that's what they do, isn't it? How much time do you spend with your dog...is he home by himself for long periods of time? Someone is always with Archie, so he's become more used to people. I also try to get him to socialize with other dogs. Every other day, he plays with the dog next door, and also goes to the dog run often and meets different dogs. I also try to get in a game of catch every day even for a little while. Activities like that tire him out so he's less prone to being hyper in the evenings or in the house. As for training, I find the best time to try is when things are kinda quiet and not many people are in the house. Dogs that get too hyper have energy to burn, so you might want to consider some more activities, like a dog run. I find that by planning things for archie to do, it gives him less time to plan things for himself!!! I really really like Warren Eckstein, Pet Therapist, and would suggest you check out his website at
www.thepetshow.com Eckstein has great tips and they've helped me a lot.
