My Maggie doesnt' do rats. (Blessedly we either don't have them around here, or they're smart enough to hang out at other folks houses). She has, however, in the 3.5 years I've had her managed to catch and kill 3 chipmunks. Just grabs them and gives their necks a quick jerk.
And you're right. They are so very proud of themselves when they have "fresh meat" to bring to you!
(Oh, and come to think of it, Maggie and Little Molly did manage to get a bird a couple of weeks ago. Must have either been very slow or very stupid!)
As long as I catch them before they get into the house with the kill. (And they really are better than the cats. If they catch something, they just want to carry it around and play with it. (I think in the 14 years they've been here they've killed nothing with their paws and teeth...more a matter of giving it heart failure!) |
