It is certainly a lot kinder when done on lambs tails - banding....I've seen it done both ways, and the banding was the best I saw - my Dad is a farmer though I like all tails myself....but no wonder if you've been brought up watching that every year, like I was
The banding is very simple to do as the tool opens the bands up for you and drops them onto the tail where they tighten.
