You're supposed to cut the tips only. The inside of the cut nail should be whitish. If you reach inner nail that is whitish with a black dot in the middle, then you have reached the quick and that is where you should stop. I just recently bought a quick-finder nail clipper which is a nail clipper with a sensor in the blade and little green and red lights in the handle that tell you when you've reached the quick before you cut into it. It works really well and is for small dogs.
Unfortunately, I also accidently ordered one from a retail-seller on ebay at the same time I ordered one from another online source. The ebay seller refused to let me cancel and the other seller's clippers had already arrived, so now I have two pair. If anyone is interested, it has never been used, is still in the package and I will sell it for the price I bought it for (the going rate) $29.00. I can post a picture if anyone is interested. |
