Happy Ending story! I don't think I REALLY realized how lucky I was! All these stories where these little dogs get out of the house or yard and are never found again... I wanted to share what happened to me last Oct. I live in NH and my little brother just moved (with the military) to VA after being in CA for 6 years! My other brother who lives near me & I decided to drive down to visit on a long weekend. Since it was a last minute decision we took our dogs. I have 2 Yorkie boys and he has a pit/lab mix! My little bro lived in a townhouse in a complex.
Well the next night someone opened a door to the outside and my dog go out of the house. I didnt know, I was sleeping. About 7am some woman is banging on the door! I look up and there she is holding my dog outside. I thought I was dreaming, I thought they were both sleeping beside me under the covers, but only 1 was!! He had NO tags on because they were on his harness and he does not sleep with that on. She said I was lucky she happened to catch sight of the dogs with us once during the day and knew where he belonged! He was under a car when she found him and it was POURING out! He seemed to have no clue that he was in danger or anything! He was about 1 year 1 month old at the time.
I was soooo upset, crying and screaming at everyone for opening the door and why would they do that.... I just cannot believe HOW LUCKY I am to have them both still today! If he ran away in VA and I had to go home I would have been a MESS!! An unfunctioning mess! I would not have been able to go home until I found him!
Needless to say I did not have the scare that some of you have had bc I had no clue he was gone, but when I got him back I was soooo upset and scared at what COULD have happened! I keep such a close eye on my pups and only sleep in a room where I can close the door and close them in with me! No more chances like that again!!
