Like potty training a toddler you get many different ideas, same with puppies, pick and choose what works best for you and then sometimes you change it all together. I prefer and have prefered the crate thoughout my association with dogs. It takes some adjustments but it has been successful, providing you use it correctly. I've done both the crate w/ litterbox inside and I've also just used a crate. Remember this, whereever your puppy is located when starting out if he has enough room to go pee/poo without disturbing his/her resting area he/she will use that spot. Thats why GENERALLY the crate works because the pup should have just enough room to stand and turn around, most dogs do not like to mess their den. Now, pups who are purchased from mills or petstores sometimes poo/pee in their crate because thats what they had to do at the pet store or puppymill, they don't know any different. You will need to see what you feel most comfortable with.

Good Luck,

Kathy
