My Bailey has a "collapsing Trachea". I have heard other small breeds have this problem. Periodically, Bailey will cough or appear to be choking and after a few "hacks" he is fine. This has happened since he was about 6 months and he is 3 years old now. Maybe that is what you are experiencing? If it has been going on for some time, that is. If it has just started, your diagnosis may be correct.
