Same here My Pixie is seven and I have a Westie who is three. When I take them for walks the younger and faster Westie runs off and leaves me and the Yorkie. They've about gotten used to walking together and we've established a pace for all of us. What I have noticed is that the older yorkie gets hot really fast. Her tongue hangs out after just a few yards. We walk about 2 miles a day. Sometimes I feel sorry for Pixie and carry her for awhile, but she's about 7 pounds and she gets heavy after awhile. I watch for her to tell me she's tired. She lets me know by just stopping and laying down. A brief rest and she's ready to go again. As the weather warms up we'll have to walk in late evening. |
