It happens to us all the time. Don't worry, the animals do not understand what is being said, and even if they did, they could care less.
We have a Shih Tzu, a Yorkie and 2 cats.
My Shih Tzu (Princess Jasmine/aka:Jazzy Girl) wears only a sweater/coat when it is cold, but always her hair in a top knot with a bow in girly colors and has a female name, yet ---people call her a boy all the time.
My Yorkie (Miss Mickey) wears dresses--all the time, her hair is always in a top knot with bows, uses a pink harness, leash etc., has a semi female name--people call her a boy all the time, also!
My one cat (Ariel), is a typical tabby cat, striped fur-grey/black colored. She is a little over weight (all right, alot over weight), has a female name! People call her a boy all the time.
My other cat (Sebastian) is mostly Angora, so his coat is absoultely gorgeous. It is long, soft as cotton and really very stunning. He has a very masculine name--people call him a girl, ALL THE TIME!
Go figure????
