Did they mention it could be a grass seed stuck up her nose or somewhere awkward in her throat/tear duct ?
Maybe an allergy right enough if no obstruction obvious.
I would try the head down and gentle throat massage if she goes like that again, as it might work, whatever the cause....and believe me I know how frightening it is to see your baby struggle to get breath
