ok......... you have a mojorly dominant yorkie, but it doesnt have to be that way..... i of all people realize the cute little face makes you melt, but you have to be the boss not her...... as far as youre confinement issues, i would suggest a crate (i am a firm believer in this method), even if you get a pet carrier (one of the plastic ones with a swing lock door, it would be great)..... the chewing problem can be avoided with LOTS of chew toys (my toby LOVES greenies, but make sure you only give tinkie one a day maximum) .... ok, so you have teh chewies and she still does it right? if she starts to chew, then put her in a room by herself (maybe the bathroom???? there is not as MUCH damage they can do in tehre)
the aggression and biting is a major dominance thing.... my toby does this biting to my fiance, but the only thing i can say is that my fiance lets him so now toby thinks the pecking order goes like this : momma, TOBY, then dad... I made toby know who was boss by putting him in a quite place when he got too roudy, or ignoring his attempts at attention when he did something wrong, i would tell him no in a stern voice and at first he didnt really listen, but now he knows when i say no that i mean buisness...... you have to take charge, when she nips at the kids you tell her no (which is good) but after that she shoudl be put away so she cant even play with the kids untill she learns to be nice
The key with these little guys is that they are in need of our attention and the best way to curb unwanted behavior is to stop the one thign that they crave most (our attention)...... this is what i have learned in reading all the posts with this type of problems (and with my own baby who started out the typical unruly dominant boy)... dont be detered from the training sessions because they can really help you keep control of youre baby, .... yes they teach the dog, but mostly they teach YOU to teach youre dog....
Good luck and keep us posted, have patience |
