Default Hairy Ears

Trevor is 8 mos and he had one ear that didn't stand until he was 5 mo. old. I always kept the ears shaved so they would stand up. I love the way some of the yorkies on here have "hairy" ears with the little wispy hairs, so I've decided to let the hair grow long. Now that the hair is getting longer, even though I do have the back 1/3 shaved, his ear wants to get floppy when he's tired or relaxed. When something peaks his interest, he will hold them both up.

I've said all this to ask this question.... Should I clip all the hair off and give that ear muscle time to strengthen or should I keep it like it is and make him strengthen the muscle by having to work at holding it up.

Thanks for any input...
