Default Switching to indoor potty

Good Morning Everyone,

I got great news and bad new today. Great: I've been promoted at my job and will be gaining significant new responsibilities. Bad: I need to move to New Jersey and will most likely be living in a condo and unable to make it home at lunch anymore. This move is going to happen fairly quickly and I don't want to backtrack too far in Avon's progress so I have a few questions.

I don't want to use pads or a litter box because we will be going to other's homes frequently and I fear that he would have mistakes. I clearly don't want to leave him in his crate all day and fear that the kitchen set up won't encourage him to develop the skills that I want. I could get a dog walker to come in but in a new city and a high crime city, I worry about giving someone access to my house.

Has anyone tried an indoor or balcony grass box? It sounds like a good solution, almost too good to be true. Does it have a smell issue? Do dogs take to it?

Are there any other people in this same situation and if so, how do you deal with it? Thanks!
