that is no excuse. just because someone is a guest in your home does not mean that they have to tolerate any abuse from them! if she thought that it would be better to leave the dog at home - knowing her kids! - she could have said that.
i don't blame you for not wanting to go back - with or without your puppy. people who can't control their kids are not people i would like to be around either. children should know to respect people and their property no matter where they are but especially when they are guests in their home!
