My new puppy has ringworm. She's on the last stages of it right now, which is a kind of brown flaky looking stuff around her face and leg. The lady I got her from told me it was all gone, but she missed a spot and now, not only did I get a little, which like you said, disappeared pretty quickly, but my other dog got it ALL OVER her. She has it on all four legs and all down her back. Its red in color and its kind of a dry flaky looking scab. That's about the best I can describe it. It usually is raised and will get more so as the area gets more infected. You can take her to the vet if you would like, but really all they will do is prescribe you with a medicated shampoo (anti-fungal) and tell you to buy some anti-fungal cream to rub on her spots. You can purchase the cream at a Wal-Mart or anywhere and it is safe to use on humans or animals and it's relatively cheap, but you may need a vet's permission before purchasing the medicated shampoo. Make sure you confine her to only certain areas of your house, keep her away from too many people, and wash your hands EVERY time you pick her up since it is highly contagious. It takes a while to get rid of, but I promise it will go away. Hope that helped. . . |
