The wire mesh is a good idea. We use landscaping timbers. They are long, and heavy (so they are hard to move). We had a real problem a year ago when the pups were small; they could just slide underneath. Then we used bricks, but as they got bigger they were able to lever them out of the way. The timbers have been the answer.

Rhapsody did get out once a few months ago, but there were no gaps in the timbers, and the guy who "found" her was very suspicious and wanting a reward; I truly think she was let out. Anyway. . . the timbers have worked! Good luck, Lorraine!
