i prefer to cut hair with a blade. Scissors run the risk of you cutting them. Sometimes you just can't see where the hair begins and the skin ends. i've seen many lacerations from owners who thought they could do it themselves with scissors and just ended up cutting a huge hole in their dog. blades are safer. you can't really cut the dog, but you can give them razor burn of you shave too close
