I always watch the cashier when I buy something with a credit card. A couple of years ago, when i was going through teenage rebellion and was in bad company, A "friend" showed me something that he uses to make extra cash aside from his retail job. There is this little black box thing that people use to swipe CC and it holds all your information including the numbers and stuff and usually the cashiers or who ever working the register swipes your CC with the black box and then swipes it again using their legitimate machine and gets paid based on how many CC they swiped and how many numbers they can actually read off the box. The customers usually don't pay attention when they give them their credit card and If the customers asked why he swiped the card twice, he would say sorry, security measures and they wouldn't question further. of course that was a couple of years ago, and i'm sure technology has advanced since but always keep an eye on your CC when you pay for things.
