I haven't adopted an older yorkie, but I've adopted older dogs of other breeds, and it wasn't any more difficult than a puppy. In fact, I feel that it is easier to adopt an adult or senior dog. That way, if you have specific characteristics you want or don't want in the dog, you can find one that fits your needs exactly. For example, you need a dog that gets along with other dogs, and the foster family or shelter worker can tell you whether or not a cretain yorkie gets along with other dogs. Sometimes you also get stuck with bad habits, but I think the benefits of an older dog outweigh the negative aspects.
