Layla was free-fed from the day we got her (chances are your breeder will send her home with food.. usually not the best quality.. so after she is home for a week or two.. start slowing introducing a high qulaity food.. we feed Fromms but solid gold, merrick, Go, Wellness are all great foods... you will have to go either online or a small pet store to find them... stores like PetSmart and PetCo don't sell this great stuff!) and she still is free fed.. if she eats 1/4 a cup a day i'm thrilled! in the morning she gets about a tsp of wet food.. just as a treat and that way i know if she has had nothing all day.. she has had that in the morning..
potty training is a tough one with these little guys! their bladders are so teeny that they always need out! Layla went out about every hour or after a nap, playing or eating... i'd bring her out on her harness and leash i'd say "hurry up" and if she peed or pooped.. big party

a treat and TONS of praise.. i'm sure my neighbours thought i was nuts! but now she is able to tell me when she wants out! but keep in mind.. accidents do happen

a crate is a great way to help her at night... if you plan on crating her (which i'm a huge fan of) put pillows or towels in the back so that you leave her only a very small space.. just enough to lay down... when she cries to tell you she has to go out... take her out (making as little fuss as possible) say your phrase.. hurry up... and giver her about 5 min.. if nothing happens back in the crate.... it wasn't until layla was about 5-6 mothts that we were sleeping throuhg the night.. but it's well worth the trouble!
oh.. AND WELCOME TO YORKIE TALK!! this is such a great place! i can't wait to see pictures of little Faith!!!
