I think at 5 mths. old, the pups are just not all that capable of focusing - they're just so overly excited and of the moment.

If she is being too out of control for you, you could try putting her in her crate or a smaller area that is away from you. When she calms down, bring her back into the social scene, see how she does. Hyper again, put her alone again. Wait until calm, try again. You get the gist...
