Default 2Yorkies with bladder infections, was it Royal Canin?

I brought my Maggie Moo home last August, she was fed Royal Canin Puppy Food, as was my neighbors young Yorkie. They were both from the same well respected breeder, who NEVER has bladder infections in her dogs, and who didn't feed them Royal Canin, but we both gave them Royal Canin at the recommendation of a very caring, lady vet. And in January of this year, both of these dogs had bladder infections. Maggie became lethargic and had blood in her urine, London was diagnosed after piddling all over her owner's house, which was out of character for her. I had x-rays of Maggie taken to make sure she didn't have kidney stones, she didn't. It took two round of antibiotics to clear up her infection.

We both immediately switched to Hill's Science Diet, and so far, so good, but occasionally Maggie's piddle pad has brownish urine on it. I have to wonder if our problems were due to the Royal Canin and also worry what long term effects it could have.

This is such a concern. I have two Yorkies, and love them like children, as we all do, and only want the best for them. It breaks my heart to think that my sweet little soul might have ongoing health issues because of bad dog food.

I wonder where this will end? How many more recalls can we expect? It is so frightening for all of us. And I also wonder how much of this issue has been covered up. No doubt, we will never know how many dogs have really been affected by eating bad food. Big business will not share any more with us then they have to. If they truly were concerned, they would have been more forthcoming with their recalls in the first place instead of just stringing them out like they are doing. They are concerned with MONEY. If they really cared for our animals, they would not put such inferior ingredients in their food in the first place.

When you read the label of the PREMIUM foods, it is downright frightening. All of the animal "by products", what are "by products" anyway? We probably are better off not knowing!

It is so upsetting for all of us. We truly don't know what to do with the food supply.
