I'm in the south bay, San Jose area.
Since I am a teacher, we have gone through our lock down training. The biggest thing that we try to stress to parents is to not come right away during an emergency. BECAUSE if there is someone out there with a gun the last thing we want to happen is for the parents to get injured. I'm sure the proper authorities are there taking control of the situation. Can you call your daughter back and see if she knows any more information? Maybe try calling the district - but knowing how crazy things get, the less calls the better - that way they are able to focus on the situation at hand.
I'm glad your daughter is locked in the computer room. I'm sure your son's teacher got them to a room to keep them safe. I believe all schools have had to go through lock down training.
Please let us know when they are home safe with you. I'll be thinking about them until I hear.
