I too have Service Dogs and I have dogs trained as Therapy Dogs. If you want to fly with your dogs in the cabin, you may be asked to show that the dogs are registered as Service dogs. A dog can be your therapy dog but in many places that is not enough. My dogs all have certifications that I carry with me when I have the dogs in public. You're right they can't ask what is "wrong" with you, but they can ask what service your dog provides--and they can deny you access if the dog is not a legitimate, certified, with ID service dog.

Take your dogs with you if you must, but don't lie about them being service or therapy dogs; it is hard enough to get them legitimately certified. And if you don't have the supporting data, you could get in trouble with the ADA if someone wanted to file a complaint.
