 It was predicted
I watched an intereview yesterday with one of the Columbine students and his father. The young mans sister was one of the victims killed at that shooting, this young man was very articulate and one of the things he stressed was how the VT tragedy is constantly being talked about as the biggest shooting in history, and the constant coverage about the killer. His point was this can cause more tragedy because of the competitive nature of other psychopaths withl issues of whatever kind to try to beat this "record" of human carnage. I'm seeing this type of behavior in the news coverage today by all the school lock downs and threats being made. You can't disregard these as non-issues, and what must this be doing to the children in these schools. I don't have a child in school but my heart breaks for the parents, friends and faculty of VT. My thoughts and prayers are with them, but they are also with all parents who are trying to help their children make sense of a senseless deed and deal with the fear and after effects of this tragedy. |
