This is usually due to two things #1 Anal glands or there is a little poop stuck around his anus.
A lot of the tiny yorkies have this problem with anal glands. They are suppose automatically express the anal glands when they poop. If they can't ,they feel uncomfortable and drag,scoot,scratch their butts on your rug or any type of floor.
This can also happen in larger dogs. I have a 5 lb Maltese that I learned to squeeze her anal glands every 2 weeks is enough for her.
I squeeze my little yorkie's glands about every 10 days. At first you might think this is so difficult to learn but it's really not.Have your vet show you exactly how to do this.
