Hi, my little girl Princess Pia is very tiny. She didn't get spayed under a year because of her size. However, around 14 months and only weighing around 1.8 we took her to be spayed. Pia came through the surgery fine but it was after the surgery when my little girl almost died. PLEASE do NOT let your little baby alone!!! I don't believe any dog after surgery should be left alone regardless of their size. I'm not trying to scare you but my Pia got very sick after surgery. I do however blame most of her problems on the vet (I no longer see) She came home the same day and wasn't herself but I expected that. However, the next morning she became very sick. Started to throw up and then got diarrhea. I took her to the vet and they gave her a shot and said she'd be fine in a day. Well, a few hours later my little girl went into shock. Thank goodness we have an ER 30 min away (which we got there in 10 min and thank God we all lived through that trip)

The ER vet on call was absolutely wonderful and was seriously disturbed that they let her go home to begin with. She told us with Pia's size that a medical professional should have been watching her very closely all night. She also told me that since Pia is so tiny that keeping her on Iv's for even two days was better safe then sorry. By the time we got to the ER, Pia's veins had collapsed and putting a tube in her trachea was her only option. To sum the story up, my little girl went to the NEW Vet's actual office during the day and back to the ER for the night. This went on for almost 10 days. Even when Pia came home the trachea tube stayed in for several days.

My little girl got sick the next day but it could have happened before that. For this reason leaving your baby alone is a bad idea. Please take your little one to an ER if possible or take the baby home with you and watch it closely for the next several days. If you don't have an ER around then ask the vet for an emergency number to call just incase something happenes through the night. I'm not trying to scare you but I do want you to be prepared for the worse. If my first vet would have put Pia on an IV when I took her back in, she probably would never have went through what she did. Dehydration caused everything to go wrong. THAT VET REALLY MESSED UP and almost cost me my baby's life.

I hope and pray no'one ever has to go through what we did. A simple spay turned into a nightmare and has caused me to be so overprotective and paranoid about Pia. She is a very healthy little girl and the new vet calls her a miracle baby. No'one thought she would make it but she's a fiesty little fighter I hope and pray everything goes well with your baby. If you have any questions about anything, please fell free to PM me
