I asked my vet the other day about spaying my almost 5 month old Mia. He actually suggested that I let her go thru her first heat, saying that it is easier to do on the smaller dogs after that. As she is also on the smaller size, 2.50 lbs. so I'm thinking waiting until she is full grown. Which I'm sure after one heat cycle she will be as big as she is going to get.
