Joey is stable on oxygen, but he has pulmonary lung contusions and some swelling in his brain. The vet is saying that Joey needs time - it is hard to tell whether he is going to pull through this or not. He says that dogs have pulled through this in the past, but of course there are dogs that haven't.
We feel like we have our mother or father in ICU right now - we are just grieving so hard and don't know what to do. All we do is wait for the next phone call from the vet. We may have to put him to sleep, but it is just too early to tell - has anyone gone through this??? Do you know of any positive incidents where the puppy pulled through and survived? We just really need support and optimism right now.
Thank you all. Keep Joey in your prayers.
There is hope!!! My baby was attacked by a 75 lbs german shepherd and the doctors did not think he would make it. His chest was full of fluid and his left lung was collapsed. He was on full oxygen and tubes coming out of every where. It was hard to see him like that. The first day he was pretty much out of it and all he did was lay there. The next day when I went to go see him he was still just laying there but when he heard my voice he tried to stand up and his little tail was wagging away. I wanted to pick him up and kiss and hugg him but he was in ICU and they told me I couldn't so I just sat there till he went back to sleep. Each time I went to go see him he got better better. I wanted him to know that I was there and didnt wan't him to be scared and think that I just left him there in that scarry place. He was in the hospital a total of 5 days. And is home with me today!!!
I will pray for you and your baby!!!
