Not true -- The US holds no monopoly on school shootings -- we just seem to have more. Earlier in this thread you can read of one such horror in Scotland. Who could forget the Beslan school massacre in Russia that claimed over 300 lives (186 of them children)? 1997 Yemen; 1999 Alberta, Canada; 1999 Netherlands; 2000 Germany; 2001 Sweden; 2002 Freising, Germany; 2002 Erfurt, Germany; 2002 Vlasenica, Bosnia-Herzegovina; 2004 Argentina; all school shootings! All committed by students or former students except the terrorists in Beslan.
This is so horribly sad -- unnecessary loss of life is always hard, but for those so young with so much yet to live -- that is a tragedy of monumental proportions!
I pray for the families that will have to deal with so much loss; I pray for the survivors who have experienced such a nightmare; I pray for the counselors, teachers, doctors and officials that will need to be strong and provide guidance and assistance to so many who have been affected. I pray for all of us who are once again faced with the evil of mankind. I pray for the family of the gunman -- how horrible to realize your loved one harbored such evil and brought it to bear against so many innocents. I pray for the victims that are still struggling with injuries. And most of all I pray for those who were killed. May their souls find everlasting peace.
