Oh my god - my fiance and I are so upset. Last night my fiance was playing with Joey (our 12 week Yorkie whom we've had for 4 days) and Joey was running behind him. Joey ran between my fiance's legs and my fiance tripped and steppedl on him. Joey didn't make a sound, but immedietely went limp. He was barely breathing. We rushed to the animal hospital, where we waited for three hours. Joey is stable on oxygen, but he has pulmonary lung contusions and some swelling in his brain. The vet is saying that Joey needs time - it is hard to tell whether he is going to pull through this or not. He says that dogs have pulled through this in the past, but of course there are dogs that haven't.

We feel like we have our mother or father in ICU right now - we are just grieving so hard and don't know what to do. All we do is wait for the next phone call from the vet. We may have to put him to sleep, but it is just too early to tell - has anyone gone through this??? Do you know of any positive incidents where the puppy pulled through and survived? We just really need support and optimism right now.
