A matter of preference, I guess.... I let Pepper give me a few quick licks, I wash his face every day and try to keep it clean, forget about kissing after a walk for example
... The funny thing is, hubby was always grossed out after I let Pep kiss me and would not want me kiss him until I washed my face, and recently, he 'lets' Pepper catch him off guard and lick on the face OMG LOL
