we are still trying to get rid of the smell.. it was a fluke.. but the right thing was to take him DIRECTLY outside to let him know that was where he needed to do his business.. however i'm not sure i would have put him in the mud room.. you don't want that area to be associated with being punished... i think all you could have done is what you did... stop him mid-act if you can with a loud AH AH and move him outside... after that i think you just have to watch him like a hawk!
