I am a nurse too. Sounds like the diagnoses maked it worse. The antibiotics should have done the trick without a positive ID of what they already knew was probably the problem. So why take a risk with a tracheal wash? Sometimes the old vets are the best. They will just treat on symptoms and are less invasive.
