What kind of things have shown up within a year? Have you ever had to replace a puppy? Do you take the original back and what do you do with it then?
you should never offer less than a one year guarantee. there are many things that won't show up until later and some even at three, four five years old. All our dogs are healthy too. no problems expected but no one is going to buy a pup with less than a one year guarantee. At least people that are educated. some breeders offer a three year or even a lifetime guarantee. i have never had to replace a puppy but if i did, i would try to nurse it back to health and see that it lived the remainder of it's life in my care and was made as happy and comfortable as possible for the rest of it's life. there is also a clause in mine that says I have first refusal rights if someone buys one of my puppies then for any reason decides they don't want it or have to give it up. that means i have the first chance to buy it back before it is offered to anyone else. When you sell a puppy you are making a lifetime commitment to that puppy and that family. if you can't do that, then you shouldn't breed. I am a fairly new breeder having only had three litters but i am learning every day.
