It was recommended to me to try salmon oil on Riley's food to aid her coat growth. I know other owners use oils as well for shiny, healthy coats.

I went to Petco tonight and found Alaskan Salmon Oil, but the lady at the counter said to just use regular vegetable oil. She said she gives a bit to each of her 4 dogs every day with wonderful results. She seemed fairly knowledgable for a Petco employee, even discouraging us from wasting our money on some dog breath mints we were considering.

Is vegetable oil okay? Can someone further education me on this? I would sincerely appreciate the information.
