Thank you! Yes, I've seen the snow slide off of a metal roof and it does come down in pretty big sections. The way our home sits it would slide off of the front or the back, not the sides, and if it did come off of the back it wouldn't matter...but the front could be an issue. I saw in the book that they have something that is supposed to help with that...I'll have to look again to see what it was. The tax credit would be a nice bonus but it's not why we would be doing it. The roof we have really should be replaced because it's old and it looks like it has 3 layers of shingles and we have a log cabin so a metal roof would look nice. We could add a ridge vent and do away with the noisy attic fan and twice as noisy vent cover...that thing catches the wind and scares the life out of you in the middle of the night!
