I first started sewing when I was very young, like 5 years old, and have sewn all my life. So, when I got Ruby and decided to make clothes it wasn't new to me. I love fabric and when I see something I want to use, usually the design just pops into my head. I have a cabinet filled with fabric for future projects.
If you're not familiar with sewing it's best to get a simple pattern and cheaper fabric and start there. Don't get discouraged when you make a mistake - that's what seam rippers are made for - mistakes.
It's hard to offer tips not knowing if you can sew or not, do you?
