This type behavior is not at all unheard of. He is now territorial and may try to 'prove' that he is the top dog to any other male he encounters...particularly those he lives with. We had a similar problem with our stud. When we brought a new male into the house, anytime one of the females was in heat...even if he never even SAW her, he would act very aggresively towards the new male.
As far as how long it will last, who knows? He may snap out of it in a week, it may never end. Ours was ongoing for over a year and we finally had the stud neutered, which corrected the behavior.
Such are the breaks of having a breeding male.
