I would say it depends what you want out of it. If puppy cries (barks) and you go to her it won't take long to connect..humm, if I bark mommie comes and takes me out of here. If I bark, mommie takes me in that nice big bed with her. I think you get the point . I know when I first got my biewer I had the crate in my bathroom and he cried for about 20-30min. I then decided to put the crate next to my bed. The first night a few cries and I "tapped" the crate and said "quiet". After that night, he does not make a peep and sleeps through the night. Even tho she is 5mos old, she might still be adjusting. Can you try the crate in your room and see how that goes? You have to decide however, either you are going to stick with that crate, or not, but don't send mixed messages and then expect her to know what to do. I will say...ear plugs work wonders as well!!
