Maggie's bell is attached to a short lead leash. After she got the concept of outside training down, the bell training started. She would go to the door--but only sat there until somebody saw her. I trained her by lifting her upper body up to touch the bell. I would ask her if she needed to go PP, then I would say "Ring the Bell". Only took a couple of days for her to get the idea. The only thing now that we have to watch out for, is that she will hit the bell in the evenings, about the same time the frogs come out. That's when we take the bell off the door. Good Luck. Holler if I can help anymore. she is now four months old and housebroken. It was very hard at first, but if you don't let your guard down, it will be over and done with very quickly. Took two months housetraining Maggie. Once you slack off, you might as well start the training all over again.
