When I was a young child, I had grandparents with 2 poms. They were quite cute dogs but I was terrified of them. When we had to visit, I would walk in the house, sit on the couch and never move until it was time to leave. They never bit me, but would bark at my ankles and scare me to death. My grandparents would call me a baby, which certainly didn't help the situation. I had always wished they would have put them in the bedroom while I was there, it would have been more enjoyable to me. All those years and I never saw more than one room in that house because I was afraid to move. If they could only see me now, the one expected to never have any dogs.... I now live with 6 yorkies, one golden retriever and expecting two Biewers soon.
When I look back, I do see how silly I was, but I never had any relationship with them and it could have been so easily avoided. I always put my yorkies a safe distance when my granddaughter visits, although, she loves them. They are the first things she goes to find when she comes in the house. She giggles when they bark, of course she's only 18 months old.
Therefore, my suggestion, it won't hurt to put JPop up during the visit. Actually Jpop might enjoy the peace during that time as well.
